10/17-10/21 Devo One

This video is the first devotional for the week of October 17 through October 21. This is a TED talk video. Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. This video asks, "Should you live for your resume or your eulogy?" What do you think?

  1. It is interesting that all of the concepts of Adam 2 are Christian in nature, yet there is not mention of Christianity. Our whole system of laws is based on Christian principles. And our culture (the positive aspects) is all Judeo-centric. I was hopeful that he would call it what it really is but the larger point is still true.

  2. Very similar to the point Ryan Eshoff was making in last weeks chapel. People won't necessarily be thinking about your accomplishments and awards during your lifetime. They'll be thinking about your character and values, which can have a much wider-impact.
