3/2/20-3/5/20 Devo One - Denzel Washington

This is the first devotional for the week of March 2-5. In delivering the commencement speech at Dillard University, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington told the college graduates to put God first in everything they do, adding that everything he has accomplished in this life was due to the grace of God. Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. is an American actor, director, and producer. He has received two Golden Globe awards, one Tony Award, and two Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actor for the historical war drama film Glory and Best Actor for his role as corrupt detective Alonzo Harris in the crime thriller Training Day.

  1. Great speech. Putting God first, caring about his kingdom and encouraging the Spirit to work in our lives is an ongoing challenge. It is easy to become self absorbed and putting God first puts everything in perspective.

  2. Wow, I love Denzel! I had no idea he was a believer. What a beautiful speech, and an encouragement to these college students. Hearing him say Fail big, try new things take chances, it was such an inspirational speech. Knowing his success and hearing his story, knowing how God directed his steps. having goals and having a new goal every single day!
