1/13/20-1/17/20 Devo One - Only Jesus by Mark Hall

This is the first devotional for the week of January 13-17. This video is a music video by Mark Hall of Casting Crowns. For Mark, singing was the way he shared his faith. But at the end of 2018, he lost his ability to sing, and was forced to go on vocal rest for an entire month. It was during this difficult moment that Jesus drew close to Mark, and Mark discovered his ability to draw Jesus. His ability to draw with both hands is remarkable. May these devotions be encouraging and inspiring for you. Watch this video and let us know what you think by leaving a few sentences as comment below the post. The comments are what give you credit.

  1. When God closes a door, He opens a window! Pretty cool that Mark was able to hear a new voice in his heart. We never know what God can do through us if we give Him the chance.

  2. Wow, so so powerful! As being a singer myself, I can understand how scary that could be. I think it's amazing God made a new path for that short period time while he was healing. To see how he used that to glorify the Lord, was so moving. The art at the end, was powerful you could feel God just peering into your soul.

  3. I think people get too caught up in what they "do." They assign that portion of their lives as "who" they are. We are who God calls us to be. He draws us to the things we are supposed to do.

  4. Great affirmation of who we are and how we are more than what we do. What a difficult journey Mark had to go through. I an imagine how devastated I would be if I lost my ability to use my hands. Our identities are so tied to the gifts God has given us, but in the big scheme of things, His love and control of our lives goes so much deeper.

  5. Are we human beings or human doings? It is sure something I struggle with coming from a work-a-holic background. Finding our meaning beyond what we do is challenging to many of us. Let us rejoice in how God has created us and be more than a "doing"!
