Reflect & Pray
How can we better remember the Source of life’s blessings? What hinders you from doing so?
Heavenly
Father, please don’t allow even one blessing that You’ve given pass by
without me recognizing that it came from You, and You alone!
I have been reading recently in Genesis- stopping and thinking about how God made man in His image. I was thinking about how this gift of being made in His images, has probably, in some ways been what makes us think more of ourselves than we ought. God gifted us to be like Him- and sometimes we grow overconfident in those gifts? I liked the analogy of the value of the maker- giving it worth- nice!
ReplyDeleteI think life moves so quickly, so we forget to stop and pause, to remember that we serve a big God, and when life gets busy we loose sight of whats most important. I do want to pause more in my life and remember life's blessings, remember what He has put before me. I love when they reference the portion about how the people of Israel and how each of the moments they experienced were not "random" they were all perfectly put together by the Lord, each moment orchestrated.

ReplyDeleteI prefer to remember the refrain a different way: "For His MERCY endureth forever, Alleluia!" While love and mercy can sometimes be interchangeable, I feel that mercy means more in so many contexts. It reminds me both of God's Love, and that I am constantly forgiven.
ReplyDeleteI have tried very hard in my parenting and my teaching and in my personal life to have a grateful heart. Sometimes, I find myself thanking God for even the smallest things, like finding the oreo cookies when I thought they were all eaten. :) This year has been such a test of perseverance, and it has really caused me to pause and remember to cherish the ones who are still with us.
ReplyDeleteI had an interesting interaction with a friend where she literally stated this same message to me. It's incredible how themes sting through our lives at different times.
