Thank you Joanna, for reminding us that we have to constantly go back to "why", and to be careful not to allow ourselves to be boxed in.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great reminder. I am a perfectionist as well and we are all human and are meant to make mistakes. I understanding not wanting to fail, failing is hard but failing is so good to experience. If we fail we learn, if we live in a bubble and never step outside and allow ourselves to fail then we never grow. We need to lean on God when we fail, He will pick us back up.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it is much more important to have a mission, not just a job. It gives you strength when things get hard and provides perspective.
ReplyDeleteI was so impressed with Joanna's wisdom and insight into her own tendencies. It really made me stop and think about my teaching career and how it has been mostly for the joy of teaching, but as I get older how much harder it can be to remain enthusiastic. It is always interesting to hear other's journeys.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna for this very honest where the rubber meets the road talk. I think we have our fair share of bad hair days or a season of dryness. This helped me to evaluate again why I allowed myself to go down this route of teaching when I had still had the option of continuing in the field of music performance.
