2/12-2/16 Devo One

This is the first devotional for the week of February 12 to February 16. This video is a devotional from Reggie Coates. He takes a look at Ambition and how it relates to us and to our students. The main verse is 2 Corinthians 5:9, "It is our ambition, whether at home or in the body, to be pleasing to the Lord." What do you think?

  1. Lovely truth about God's intent and purpose for us, the difference between right ambition and wrong ambition and a reminder about how God is with us continuously.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
Thank Reggie for giving us this devotion. I believe that stage fright and nervousness is in part due to our desire to be thought well in the eyes of others and our desire to be admired. In light of this, it reminds me of a joke I heard once of a friend of a conceited man saying to him " do you know that you are conceited" to which his friend replied " I am not conceited! conceit is a fault and I have no faults!!" in the same manner, ambition can cause us to lose sight of God and damage our relationships to others. when are focus is away from us, then we can be free to express ourselves in a way that glorifies the LORD

  3. It takes extra effort to choose "humble" success over "selfish" success when our culture is all about winning at any cost. Let's all do a fearless inventory of our definition of success and see how biblical it is. How "secular" is our idea of success? It's the values we hold that determine the quality of our success, not the image of success.
